    Hi Robbie,

I have an interesting story to tell you. This past week I have been having problems with my car. A couple of times it just stopped completely in the middle of the road so I took it to have a mechanic check it out this morning. It had an odd squeak just before it would shut down and I told him that. He said that he didn’t think it was related to the car shutting down, but he would check it out. He came back after cleaning the injectors, driving the car and listening to it run for a while and said that it apparently did have something to do with it. He said that all that he could figure out, and of all of his many years in working on cars he had never seen this, it was apparently something in the transmission – in the torque converter that was locking up and shutting down the engine. This is the first car that I have owned in 30 years with an automatic transmission so I had no idea that you weresupposed to have it flushed regularly. Bad girl, I know. The mechanic told me that I needed to have someone who specializes in transmissions look at it and get a second opinion, but he thought it needed some serious help quickly.

Ok, for the part of the story that pertains to your radio program. I have never listened to your program before. I usually listen to WTRU only on weekdays while I am driving to work. I left the me

    Dear Debbie,

Now it’s my turn to be embarrassed. I am so sorry that I just found your e-mail and, Wow, I am so glad you gave me a chance to pray for your car. Does she have a name? I know I’m a little different, but I think all cars should have a name. Anything that we love we name.

I have seen torque converters do that, but never know a fluid flush to be a fix. The torque converter has a clutch similar to your old straight drives that helps save gas, but it controlled electronically. When it engages prematurely it will stop the engine when the car is not moving, much like letting out the clutch with your foot on the brake. So usually it’s an electrical fix and can go either way financially. So I will pray that either it’s an inexpensive fix or the Lord will provide a way so you can get back on the road. I can sense your trust in Him and I know He won’t let you down…… meanwhile if I can help in any way please don’t hesitate to e-mail, call if you need to….

Ps. When you can afford it you do need to service the transmission…..

    May God Bless you……….Robby

Someone who works at a transmission shop told me that in today’s modern electronically-controlled transmissions, solenoids (electromagnets) control fluid flow for shifting. If steel particles get rubbed off steel parts (which is a normal process in driving), a slight residual magnetism on these solenoids can pick up enough steel shavings to block fluid passegeways and cause all kinds of problems. The fix? Drop the pan and clean! Piece of cake.

Have you heard about the monister going around the US praying with people for lower prices at the pump? His name is Rocky Twyman and this is one web news article:

Intersting article. I’m interested in why you refered to Rocky Twyman as a monister, was that mispelled for monster and his attempt to help Oprah get the Nobel prize indicated him not standing on solid ground, or is that a word? I looked it up and couldn’t find a definition. Anyway it’s good people are turning to God. Isn’t it?

Yes it was a misspell. I am visually handicapped and cannot type without looking at the keys. My humble apologies to those I amy have inadvertantly offended. I assure you it was an unintentional typo………..
