I heard on the show this morning about using hydrogen for motor vehicle fuel. Someone responded with “Where is all that water going to come from?” Pardon me for pointing this out, but I think hydrogen turns back into water during the combustion process. So it looks like it’s a zero-loss process.
Water vapor comes out of the tailpipe which goes into the atmosphere and when that becomes saturated, it rains! (Looks like a good solution for the current drought in NC)…
I heard on the radio yesterday that the Federal highway fund will be bankrupt by the end of this month. Money going into this fund comes from road tax collected on gas and diesel fuel. Everybody has been screaming for us to cut consumption; with outrageous gas prices recently, we have. Now there are consequences for our willingness to consume less. Interesting, no? I wonder how the feds are going to handle this one…
More taxes is what we will hear I’m sure….On the Water Front, we had an engineer call in with the water shortage issue, I honestly don’t know what would happen if we all switched to water, but I wonder if a study has ever been done…something to think about…Thanks for your comments
Hydrogen power sounds good, but it takes electricity to make it. As hydrogen powered cars may prove to be an alternative, electrical costs will rise. As homes become more efficient, electricity will rise in cost. Even a ‘solar home’ costs about $50K for a 5kw system, the rate of return on investment is anywhere from 7-10 years. By not using the power that is generated, power companies will have to raise rates to compensate for loss in revenue. Anyway you go, there is a trade-off. Electric cars that ‘plug-in’ to normal house-hold current, still has the cost associated with energy usage. . .. . .. .So, what’s the answer? Then if we buy hybrids, what’s the cost for replacement batteries in 7 or 8 years; half the price of the car? Thats dumb. As a ‘used’ car, who would want to foot the bill?. … . .. .. . ..I am afraid we are stuck with fossil fuels for quite a while longer, so let’s drill baby drill. .. .. . .AND get the government out of our back pocket.
