There was a comment about Florida flourishing, not so, I have lived in Fl for 64 years now and I see things going out the door every day, jobs, educations, companies, they just close the door and are gone. Another comment about supporting people out of work. Question! If you were losing your home through no fault of your at all and you neighbor offered to make a spare room for you in the heated garage would you decline and go find a fresh cardboard box to sleep in? I know about things like that, I have been there and done that, I took the room in the garage and ate the food out of the trash can. Electric cars are great because they use no gasoline/diesel BUT, there is no road tax collected on sales (or lack thereof) of gas. The federal highway trust fund is already broke (which is where these road taxes go, in order to maintain our road structure). Where would this allternative money come from for the highway maintenance fund? Additional taxes on electricity or increased electric rates? I would love to have an electric car, but this all goes back to “Who Killed the Electric Car?” that was featured on a recent broadcast. The fed is not going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg (read Road Tax collected on gasoline)

Here is what I think.since the oil companies started this with the price of gas so high, the big three and all the others should just build electric cars and put the oil companies out of business. that way Arnold would be happy with the pollution in california and put a dent in global warming

My wife has often pointed out that I’m wrong on many subjects. So you may well be right and since Ford didn’t get any money, in a sense we shall see, like you said, which model unfolds. Well. I hear that $30.00 from each hour of wages paid goes to people who are laid off or who are retirees, not actual production. This is not Biblical as “If a man doesn’t work, then neither should he eat” or something like that. I have a proposal. There are 3 car companies. Let one file bankruptcy, let one get bailed out and the successful model gets to apply to number 3 as we see that it did work well on one of the above. I used to belong to a union and learned that a union is a very powerful poliical machine. Our union priced our goods so high that the company closed, threw us all out the door and went to Mexico, where there was no union and they could find labor at 10% of what we were getting paid.

I respectively disagree. The Big Labor you are referring to is the hundreds of thousands of good hardworking Americans who helped build an auto industry that truly has fueled this countries economy and provided much for many. Granted they and their leaders as well as management, suppliers and all stakeholders need a clear vision to come together and help America out of the slavery of consumer debt by building cars Americans can afford to buy, built by our own labor force. The Unions aren’t the ones who decided product plans and lease plans and finance plans that enslaved the consumers who now don’t have the liquidity to continue to spend more than they make. Nor are they the ones that bought cars and houses they couldn’t afford.. All our Greed caused the problem and it will take all of us turning back to God for answers. We must not point the finger at one group, four are pointing back at us. We need everyone in Union as this Nation was founded, humbling themselves, (me included), seeking God’s face; turning from our wicked ways and then God will turn and heal our Land!
