Is it wrong to say “Happy Easter”?
Lately I have become very confused about the word “Easter”. These days it seems churches prefer to say “Happy Resurrection day”. It appears that three teachings about the word Easter are prevalent.
1. According to Webster (Personally I like this one) Etymology: Middle English estre, from Old English ?astre; akin to Old High German ?starun (plural) Easter, Old English ?ast east Date: before 12th century. I like the thought that the Sun rises in the east so the word rise was used in the forming of the direction the sun comes up, like the SON came up on Easter/Resurrection Day.
2. All About History Eostre – a pagan Anglo-Saxon Goddess This mythical figure is said to have been the goddess of the sunrise and the spring. She is the Teutonic goddess of the dawn. The direction of the sunrise, East, is named for her. In Norse mythology, the name is spelled Eostare. Another considered the Norse/Saxon goddess of spring is Ostara. Eastre is believed to be an ancient word for spring.
3. The Berean Chronicles Are we really celebrating the resurrection of Christ or of Easter, the fertility goddess of Babylon? Did the goddess Easter resurrect from the underground on the Spring Equinox? The pagan worshippers believed she did and worship her every year in the spring with orgies, rabbits and eggs. Constantine was so anti-Semitic that he forced the Christians to change the name of the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ from “The Feast of First Fruits” Leviticus 23, to Easter. He changed the name to the pagan God Ishtar or Easter. The true Christians never allowed it to change. Even our “puritans” who came to America would not celebrate Easter or Christmas.
Her name was Edith Burns. She had a simple question she asked that lead people to Christ, “Do you believe in Easter?” Click that link to read the whole story.
Being raised to celebrate Easter and knowing full well it means He has Risen, I just think that God’s OK with it…It worked for Edith…Let me know your thoughts

Easter is a word that was adopted and derived from the goddess Ishtar. It is a pagan holiday that the church stole from the pagans and made it into their own. Jesus probably didn’t even die in the spring.
Wow, don’t you believe that it was the time of passover, that comes in the spring?
