John 13:35 "By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." I personally have never been to a funeral of a Godly person that wasn't well attended. On the other hand the least attended funeral I ever attended was that of a very selfish person. I had know them for some time and I never knew the deceased to do much for any one but themselves. A fruitful life certainly matters. Can you live a truly fruitful life and not have anyone care enough to come to your funeral to comfort others who would also miss you? Not many folks would have come to Scrooge's funeral before the change.

It doesn't really matter, does it. There is only one opinion that counts in this life, God's. If his "car" is in the procession you are highly favored. Better a chauffeur for God than a sultan with 1000 limousines

These days we are too often caught up in what "we" have to do every day. A funeral just throws a monkey wrench into "our" plans. It's too inconvenient, or we don't like to think about dying, or we are afraid of what's on the other side (with good reason), so we just bury (sorry) the thought of our own demise. Maybe the reality of a funeral procession hits too close to home (our own mortality). In light of eternity, our life is truly as the Scripture says, just a vapor that appears for an instant and is gone forever...

My mother once told me that you can't tell how much somewone loves by how much they love, but by how much others love them. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self controll...those kinda folks are often loved, by so many you can't keep people away from their funeral. You both may be right and the person who had passed was a true believer, and had long out lived their family, but chances are, no. Like you I hope not.

True Car Guy...If we know Jesus we are never really alone..When we die we go home to be with our Heavenly Father...After all nothing can be better then that and what a homecoming that could be...AND Bryan my prayers would be for those people that followed the hearse. IF they didn't know Jesus they may have wondered why no one else showed up or cared

Millions die alone, unhearlded, but God doesn't love them any less. The only fame I'm concerned with (please Lord guard my heart) is with the Lord above. Why should a family be concerned with the size of the funeral procession? What's the difference between 2 cars and a 1000 cars, neither one speaks about eternity?

While I agree with Christian Car Guy; what I like to think about is the Greeting on the other end of the procession... when I enter Heaven... WOW!!!! The song "Imagine" comes to mind...

I think he means that their were only 2 cars...He could be thinking he should have more cars or more that cared for the person...Making more cars to appear at the funeral procession...I think he is saying it is something to consider for ourselves....What would our funeral procession look like if we were to pass away...It is something to think about
