geckoHave you ever tried to make sense of car insurance companies and how they all claim to save you huge amounts of money?

I checked this today on their websites, Nationwide says they save you up to $43 a month, Allstate says they can save you up to 20% or 30%, Gieco says 15 minutes can save you up to 15%, State Farm appears the boldest they say a flat switch and save $489 with a little asterisk you gotta read to believe, Progressive says you could save $550.00.

Personally, I’m thinking that if you keep switching you could be makin money on your car insurance.

Leapin Lizards they need to start paying me to carry Gieco.

Today on the Christian Car Guy Show Bill Mixon my Christian Insurance Guy will try to break through to the truth about insurance quotes. You can get a quote from Bill by going to SaveOnYourInsurance.org

How about all these voices callin out to you, save, save. How do you know the voice of truth? If you are like me you have all sorts of voices callin out in your head. Learning to Listen for God’s voice amongst all that clutter was a gift given to me before I was a Christian.

Back when my wife Tammy and I were dating and she, being a Christian told me that in order to continue to date her I needed to go to church. Me not being a Christian and being in the car business thought devoting my one day off to church sounded like horrible idea, however love will do strange things, even to a car salesman. So I agreed to go. The very first Sunday I was expecting to be bored out of my mind, yet The Pastor asked if we regularly herd God’s voice in prayer.

What? I thought this guy is nuts you can’t hear God’s voice. But he had my attention.

He went on to say, “why do you use so many words in your prayers, God knows exactly what’s on your mind, you need to learn to listen in your prayers.”

He then went on to explain a prayer, where you let go and let go and let God. He said, “sitting right here in the pew, relax let you body lay against the back of the pew and let go and let go and let God.” Then he said, “Think of relaxing places three of them and put yourself there and smell the smells and hear the sounds and let go and let go and let God.” Finally he said, “Now picture Jesus comes down the aisle and sits beside you, now listen”.

I didn’t get anything that day, but it stuck in my mind. Then a few months later my son ran away, I had a son by a previous marriage that at the time was about 9 years old. We searched and we searched, and it got later and later and I became almost panic stricken about 2am that morning. I don’t know if you have ever had a child really run away but it is a horrifying experience.

After I had run out of all my ideas on what to do and where to search, all the sudden I thought of that crazy prayer I herd in church so desperate I tried it. I sat down in a quiet place and somehow I let go and let go and let God. Just when I got to the part where Jesus came and sat beside me. I clearly herd Jesus say I have him safe and sound he’s on his way home.

car-night-front1Thirty minutes later a Police car pulled into our driveway. The Policeman told us that he had been driving down Lee street, a very bad part of town and he saw this little kid getting into a car that didn’t look like he should so he pulled them over and ask the boy’s name, “Leslie”, my son, told him and the Policeman had recognized it from a radio report earlier.

I asked the Policeman how long ago that had been and he told me about 30 minutes ago.

I was not a Christian but I knew that was Jesus. The sad part was that it took me another couple of those prayers that he clearly answered, another couple of years wasted, and getting me into the Bible and church before I would truly understand that he Loved me enough to go to the cross and die for me.

Those were wasted Easter Sunday’s no real joy no understanding what it meant that Jesus conquered death that morning.

I have said a lot of prayers since then, but I will never forget that the real power of prayer is not in what I say, but what He says, if I will only LISTEN.

Thanks for letting God use you CCG. I definitely believe that you can hear God before you are saved. Jesus tells us that no one comes to Him unless the Father draws them. When God draws us unto Him He does it in many different ways. He doesn’t always slam us with conviction right from the first but he begins to speak to our hearts in ways we are likely to listen. Many times He slowly convinces us through encounters like you experienced. When we were unsaved we weren’t deaf to God’s voice, we may not have listened to or recognized His voice, but He does speak especially when we open ourselves up and listen for Him as you did. Just because we hear God speak to us doesn’t mean that the Holy Spirit of God is dwelling in us, that can only take place in a heart that has been transformed and washed inthe Blood of Christ. Thanks for still listening.
