There’s no need to fear! Underdog is here! When criminals in this world appear and break the laws that they should fear and frighten all who see or hear the cry goes up both far and near for Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! ..Say it with me- Speed of Lightning Roar of thunder Fighting all who rob or Plunder, UNDERDOG.

If like me you grew up on this, no doubt its implanted in your mind somehow. Yet, if anyone thinks it originated Saturday Mornings, sorry, the Bible was the first to coin the phrase under dog, and for me that Bible understanding is a gift itself an understanding of the Father’s Day Gifts I have been receiving since my birth, many from both my earthly and heavenly Fathers.

Take a Look at the story for yourself of the original Under Dog, its found in both Matthew 15:21-28 and Mark 7:24-30. You know when the Canaanite Woman said to Jesus. “Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” The woman was then commended by Jesus as having “GREAT FAITH”. “There’s No Need To Fear, Under Dog is Here.”

Yes if you have a “Fear of The Lord” to the point that you get the gift described in the seventh anointing of the Holy Spirit in Isaiah 11:3 The Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord— and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.

That delight in the fear of the Lord is the very thing Underdog is commending, There is no need to fear, the Lord is way bigger and badder than any villain or supervillain, even more than Simeon Bar Sinister. Isn’t it interesting that they even used the Jewish “Bar” meaning ‘son of’ in the super villain’s name. Jesus clearly is your warrior King fighting all that rob and plunder, meaning, Satan the thief.

My father loved the Underdog in any football game, or fight, having been bullied a lot as a kid, his love for the Underdog was contiguous, maybe it is that way for you. I don’t think its any coincidence that we love Underdogs, because in reality we are all out gunned by our arch enemy, Satan. Yet, with faith of that dog under the table there is no need to fear, abiding in Christ you win every time.

I want to share another Father’s Day gift idea, the gift of Prayer. I always kind of knew it was a Father’s Day gift, but this week God showed me that in a big way so I cherish it more now. I have for years been getting up earlier and earlier enjoying God to where these days I get up at 4-4:30 beginning in prayer, a delight would be an understatement. However, this week my wife and I were treated by Energize Ministries to go with a large group of Pastors on The Jesus Freak/ DC Talk Cruise to the Bahamas, pretty wonderful I am telling you.

My wife loves to sleep with me hugging her, I mean it really, really helps her feel loved and she sleeps much better she tells me. Fascinatingly, when I got up to pray the first day of our adventure together, I couldn’t, yes that may sound lame, but I wasn’t feeling it, not at all, it was a strange experience for me not to be able to pray, but I clearly sensed God telling me to go back to bed and hug your wife as she sleeps, who could argue with that at 4am.

My wife will tell you in an instant she hasn’t slept like that in years, yet Friday morning the day we were to leave, God got me up at 4:15 as ready to pray as ever. My wife Tammy still says she slept phenomenally. I saw the gifts laid out like Christmas Morning. My pray life is a complete gift, God gives it to me and He can arrange what ever way He feels necessary to help me be the man He is initiating. I am still marveling at what a gift prayer really is. Rest is as well, resting in a delight of the Fear of the Lord. I can even sense the need to pray and ask for the gift of prayer, how cool is that.
