Robinson Crusoe

In Daniel Defoe’s Classic , Robinson Cursoe the native on the island Robinson Crusoe lands on named, Friday asks one of the most penetrating questions of all time, in my view, and then in the simplest of manners. “Why God No Kill Devil?”

I have pondered this question many times and I think there are more answers to that question than I will ever even know but here are a few you may enjoy with me based on my recent reading of  The Christian In Complete Armor, by Willam Gurnall

  • God makes a spectacle of the devil in the midst of revealing His truth and His Love. The Whole book of Job and many other accounts of beguiled saints reveal this in so many ways, David, Peter, Paul just to name three but in essence every saint that has ever lived. I personally would have no clue of God’s love if He had not come for me in the midst of Satan’s attacks.
  • God reveals His Glory reflected by his image bearing saints through the point of Satan’s Attack. Every saint reflects a unique part of God’s Glory. Satan prowls around looking for any saint who dares to stand up and show off God’s glory in them, when they do like “Whack A Mole” Satan Pounces, whacks them in an attempt to get that saint to hide God’s reflection. Ask any beautiful woman how that works, or any great musician or writer and you will find many have been Satan’s spokesman in attempting to tell them they are bad at exactly what God gifted them with. So we can by pinpointing Satan’s attacks have a clue to how we reflect God.
  • God uses the scorpions own flesh to create and anti-venom that we can then share with a inflicted world. 2 Corinthians 1: 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.… Yes, you who have suffered the sting know how God rescued you from that addiction, divorce, Cancer, and you are now out there sharing your anti-venom. My good friend Bob Young from 109-U-Pull-it has a magnificent quote for this. “What I though made me disqualified makes me uniquely qualified”.
  • God draws his saints into intimacy with Himself as a result of Satan’s attacks. Any who had been on the receiving end of the loss of a child or job or even a favorite pet know exactly what Jesus meant when He said “Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted” There is comfort, and then there is comfort; any who know God at these places in their life share an intimacy that is beyond any description I could attempt.

Right now you may be saying, “Robby, you left out the best one!” I would not be surprised, as I said I think I shall ponder this question for eternity and please share your answers with me as I so Love to See the Wisdom of God that makes foolish the things of this world.

If you want to get to know this God all you need to do is ask…and seek and knock, here are a few helps: KNOW GOD
