In today’s gas thirsty world perhaps we can learn something from some really thirst Israelites in the desert. You may remember right after they had all the water the Egyptians were drown in, they went to the area of Marah and got really, really thirsty. They grumbled at Moses he cried out to God and many understandings about thirst were revealed. Here are the two key verses. Genesis 15:25-26

And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Genesis 15:25-26

Simply put add a cross to the waters then listen to God and Follow Him… SWEEET – Just Sayin. The result is Jehovah Rapha – The Lord that healeth thee.

Marah by the way in Hebrew is Mary the mother of Jesus name or Miriam – bitter. Just as Rachel Named Benjamin the son of my sorrow, Ben Ami before Jacob changed his name to Benjamin, son of my right hand. Just as after this Miriam would sing to the rock and out came water, Miriam’s Well. Do you see the pattern, we are made thirsty so we will cry out to God, sing hopefully so that we will listen to Him and do what is right – The The Lord Will Healeth Thee. It really is that simple – but oh so hard. Tests prove us to go to the WELL when we are thirsty.

So here are some of the thirsty tips, I feel I’m am following to do what is right to be a good steward of our fuel resources.

#1 Pray – cry out with your whole heart, with thanksgiving. Do you even really need to take your car?

#2 Give Yourself Margin – Get going sooner so you don’t rush or face bad traffic

#3 Slow down and keep your momentum timing the street lights

#4 Reduce unneeded weight in the car. Junk in the trunk, don’t fill up with Gas, (each gallon is over 7 pounds 10 is 70 pounds)

#5 Use your A/C sparingly: In-town keep em down- Over 50 it’s not thrifty. The loss of aerodynamics on the Highway costs more than the A/C.

When we really consider how everyone is hurting we should each do our part because gas has a short shelf life and as supply comes up the cost drops like a brick; they have to get rid of it the ethanol in the gas ruins it in short order. So as each of us do our part like always the gas prices will come down.
