First I should mention that Aristotle’s famous quote isn’t quite what he said and certainly not in context.

“In the case of all things which have several parts and in which the  totality is not, as it were, a mere heap, but the whole is something besides the parts,  there is a cause; for even in bodies contact is the cause of unity in some cases, and in others viscosity or some other such quality.”

Aristotle’s Metaphysics Book VIII, 1045a.8–10

So I share that not to confuse but to illustrate that this is not a math equation but Aristotle was actually speaking on words and their definitions. The amazing thing is how this would apply which is amazingly simple and helpful. We are made of dirt thus Adam was named for what he was made of Adamah… So I really have felt a better translation into English would be Dusty. There are Hebrew letters that make up the word, Adam, those three letters each have their own meaning but when you arrange them into Adam you have mankind, the same word in Hebrew, “something besides”, the three letters. Now to me this is amazingly helpful when it comes to praying, “Love the Lord Your God with all you heart, all your soul and all your might”.

That word translated “might” or strength or mind. In Hebrew is the same three letters rearranged a bit of the word Adam. Telling me it’s all of me absolutely focused on loving God. There is more way more today on the Christian Car Guy Show – Aristotle’s Check Engine Light
