Jesus was clear, “Shut The Front Door!” In Matthew 6 when teaching us how to pray..
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret;“
Matthew 6:6a
Clearly, C.S. Lewis had all this in mind with his Wardrobe in Narnia. Jesus’ word translated closet I believe is a fundamental understanding on prayer that Jesus was passing on for those who have ears. As I pondered this idea I struggled with the portability of a closet. I don’t want to be like Clark Kent looking for a phone booth in an emergency, (A child is hit by a car and for me to pray, I need to find a closet and shut the door.)
So that word in both Hebrew and Greek could have easily been translated storehouse. So where is your store house?
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Luke 2:19
Narnia is in our hearts our storehouses, that where my mom and my dad reside, past friends and pets, but most importantly that’s where I meet with God and store His word!!!
The amazing thing that is so helpful to me in Jesus instruction is that I can, “SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!”
Yes all those distractions that choke the word and detract me from prayer, I have been working on my door shutting abilities all week…. What’s In Your Closet?? Share today 866-348-7884
