The mother of road trips, Bertha Benz had five children and without her husband Karl’s knowledge decided to to test drive their invention, the first internal combustion motor car. The trip was 66 miles and took 12 hrs, partially because she had to stop and make repairs, cleaned the fuel line with a hair pin, create the first brake lining, (leather), when the wood failed and with no gas stations, she found a pharmacy to sell her the Ligroin fuel (a cleaning solvent), which powered the engine, making the pharmacy the world’s first makeshift gas station.
I can’t help but wonder did they sing songs, play the I spy game along the way, that was a lot of time on the road…. WHERE WAS SHE GOING — To see her mom, for real. Karl missed out.
Home, mom, a place that calls to us. Mine sure does! To me and If I could drive 12 hrs in a Benz to see her wouldn’t that be an amazing road trip. Jesus had a mom, and so did Cain, and Jesus’ first miracle is certainly connected in so many ways, but just for starters, where did it happen? Cana of Galilee, did you hear it, not a coincidence, its the same Hebrew word Cain’s mom said when she named him. We will unravel that and so much more on today’s show… 10am Eastern.
