“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”

Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18

The Prophesy of what Jesus did and would do, but exactly how does He do it, Bind up the brokenhearted? One HUGE way is through all kinds of – FORGIVENESS. By all kinds I mean the forgiveness He gives us that’s makes us right with God, and also having been set free as the Lord’s prayer says we are to forgive others as we have been forgiven, that is a super gigantic prison break as well.

BUT WAIT: There’s more!!! The really tough one that I have experienced personally and seen many struggle with is; the person who has sinned against us the most, OURSELVES! Especially, the sins that reoccur time, and time, and time again.

The question Jesus asked me with the biggest struggle with sin I ever had that I truly felt, guilty, guilty, shame, shame, shame. Jesus asked me as I wrestled with His forgiveness.

I asked. “What, Jesus are you actually calling me innocent?”

His Answer went to my soul and stuck. “Robby, didn’t I pay enough.”

Yes, Jesus does bind up the brokenhearted IF: If we do the painful work of truly accepting it and forgiveness back to all those imprisonments of our unforgiveness.
