Who’s in charge here, a question I quite often struggle with, but God clears up the point for Cain right before he falls, with a few tips worth studying.
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
There is your answer, you, you rule over sin and I want to get to that but first notice “If you do well”. That word well is sometimes translated “Merry”, the opposite of God was telling Cain about his attitude.
Yet if my attitude is walking with God, I can do well if I pay attention to who is my King, I will be merry and I will do well. In this case however Cain had not, so all is not lost if we will understand, sin isn’t just lying there it’s crouched to pounce. That word is a crouched lion who sees prey, and apparently we left the door open. We did not pay attention, born in a barn kinda thing. Yet still we have a chance if we rule.
I remember as a young sales manager I was told, when in charge take command, I have a great story about that I will share on the show today, yet think of Patton walking in, he takes charge of all his resources and authority. Yes, these are our choices and God gives us the dignity to amke them, but God also gives us the authority to call upon the Kingdom to help, Angels, legions, prayers, great Brother and Sisters who are the army of Jesus, not to mention Jesus himself.
OKAY SIN, DON”T MAKE ME HAVE TO CALL JESUS… Yes you have that authority. That word, “RULE” in that verse is a very royal word it starts out just like the word Kingdom itself. The same word is used many, many times to describe the different King’s ruling in both Kings and Chronicles… SO ROAR my friends when sin comes crouching at the door you left open…. YOU have the Authority Here.
