Song of Songs 1: 1 The Song of Songs which is Solomon’s
In transition from Psalms 119 a continual review and meditation of (what is a Statute), as the Word Statute has only two letters a Chet and a Quaf. The letter Chet is the miracle letter in so many ways, the eighth letter in the Alef-Bet and is a picture of our Union with God in Christ. No better place to study that Than in the Song of Songs – So here we go. What is your Song of Songs – At the end I play mine I wrote a year or so ago, just to illustrate that its all about the heart not your musical gifting.
Song of Songs verse 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.
God’s Kisses help bring down our walls like wine frees our inhibitions. The amazing word in thgis verse is this Love – Daelt Vuv Dalet – my explanation and how my wife demonstrates that for me….
Song of Songs1:3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.
Deep is this idea of Statute and this verse reveals so much of that as the word Statute in Hebrew is a Chet and A Quaf. The word savor in Hebrew ends with the Chet and the word Poured Forth ends with the Quaf. The deeper understanding that Christ is Greek for Mesiah and both mean the Anointed one. Here Solomon is introducing the main Character – THE ANOINTED ONE. Then sharing the connection of name and anointing.
The word Name in Hebrew is Shem – Shin, Mem. This word ointment is Shin,Mem,Nun. The root is name and add the nun or the idea of the lamp of faith. Think about the faith you have in even your dog, by name. Such is to a sense the anointing and your name gives off a smell I assure you good or bad depending on the nose that tastes it.
Yes this verse is a Statute.
Song of Songs 1:4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
The nuggets of following at a run, we get to go to the Holy of Holies and be glad and rejoice and like wine that gets better with age so will our memories of His love. The comes an amazing study in Iniquity verses Equity – What are your memories better than wine?
Song of Songs 1:5 I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
As in the Matthew 5 beatitudes a huge surprising contrast – Kedar is the tribes of poor nomadic Arabs, but also the word for mourn as is black, but then like going from the dark to the light you find yourself in The Kingdom of the Prince of Peace what a testimony for the daughters of Jerusalem. How about you – when did you go from dark to the Light?
Song of Songs 1: 6 Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
In 1 Sam 6 is a sad story of The House of The Rising Sun – Bethshemesh. There is the stone of mourning, The Stone of Abel – black from mourning which is phenominally connected to Genesis 4; that Cain had toiled under the sun by plowing his field according to Josephus to gain by his merit not God’s like his brother Abel. The result is black and mourning.
As anyone who reads Solomon knows he talks a lot about under the sun, which clearly is teaching us not to worship the sun or our day by day accomplishments. That is just one of the many lessons here. I share some of my story as well as other understanding of this verse. That we may see the Statutes.
Song of Songs 1:7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
The first of many requests in this book to find Jesus, this time as the amazing Shepherd. The one who feeds and makes to lie down..

Song of Songs 1:8 If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents.
The miracle verse of Chapter one is no let down, The Good Shepherd Himself is telling us – The Way. Simple and deeper than anything our minds can wrap around – love this episode

The Shepherd’s Tabernacle would be a better translation of that word tent and as the comparison of the previous verses both the tents of Kedar, (not spelled the same way at all) or by the veiled or covered companions in verse 7 – Posers.
Jesus had the Tax collectors and prostitutes in His tent and there is where He told Peter to feed his sheep.

Song of Songs 1:9 The Complete Tanakh (Tanach) – Hebrew Bible Version: At the gathering of the steeds of Pharaoh’s chariots have I silenced you, my beloved.
The KJV reads so differently: I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots.
There are two major differences the word translated Silenced in The Hebrew Bible and Compare in the KJV. Clearly even in the Inerlinear the word is Silenced and the idea is that of Exodus 14:14 when God came to the rescue and silenced the cries of the Hebrews. This will also help make sense of the following verses relating to the Jewels that were plundered as was the sea.
The other cool word that is translated differently is At verses To, which is how do you want to translate the first letter of the verse which is a Lamed as is the case in Jeremiah 10:13 a similar verse and even the KJV team translated it At.
So for me this is a critical way to see how Jesus is telling us His love story for Israel, but also in my own life – I share my story in this episode of how he Silenced my cry.
Song of Songs 1:10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows, thy neck with chains.
The treasures of these few words, Proverbs 1:9 Solomon shared that by listening to wisdom we would have ornaments of grace and chains on our necks – To be in His presence is to smile and smile big time; it will make rows on your cheeks even if you don’t have dimples. To be shy and look down or look down in Bible study (Jesus) will give you Tech Neck or lines that resemble chains of pearls… And that’s Just the beginning of treasures in these few words. An amazing study today.
Song of Songs 1:11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.
One of the mysteries of this verse is; Who is the We? Is it the Daughters of Jerusalem or the we as in “Let us make man in Our image”? Matthew Henry believed it was God and as he points out the word Solomon used is exactly the same as in Gen 1:26 and I would agree as God also explained in Ez 16:14-15 He does bedazzle us that we would be beautiful to the heathen. Wow, this may be my new favorite verse as it has so much to do with our quest to understand the Statutes of Psalms 119. Yes as Jesus was anointed three times reflecting back on how the Three in One Bedazzle’s us, we now get to use our own Spikenard to anoint Him – sending forth our own Amazing Fragrance in our offering.
Song of Songs 1:13a A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me
Myrrh in Hebrew is Mem-Resh – meaning bitter and a drip – clearly tears both in the association with mourning and embalming, but also that to make myrrh back then they would cut the myrrh tree and the resulting resign or sap would look like tears on the trunk. So note what she says this mourning experience tears with all their fragrance are keep in a money sack and it is her Wellbeloved. See the connection to the Mary’s (Greek for Miriam), which means bitter with the same root as Myrrh. Ad the connection to Miriam’s well and boy oh boy.

Song of Songs 1:14 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.
Verses 12 the 13 and 14 line up amazingly with the famous Exodus 6 passage used with the 4 cups of wine at a Passover
The Spikenard – Is the coming out of Bondage we see in the woman of Luke 7 who anoints Jesus being a prostitute. Verse 12
The Myrrh – Are the tears of bitter bondage and free to have Jesus in our hearts as our master not Satan. Verse 13
The Camphire – Is the redeeming blood that smell covers our stink so we can be fruitful being connected to the vine.
Exodus 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

Song of Songs 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes.
God knows us better than anyone and here is telling us – PAY ATTENTION _ Pay ATTENTION, (behold, behold) YOU ARE FAIR/BEAUTIFUL – Why? Dove Eyes –
Doves, being that pigeons are in the same family, always know their way home. They Mate for Life. Then they are a picture of the Holy Spirit – which can see Jesus like nothing else – YES – You have that if you are in Christ – You Have the Eyes of The Holy Spirit.
Song of Songs 1:16 Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.
Here the woman reflects back to why she is fair – Because she radiates His beauty and then she make reference to pleasant, that word in Hebrew is the same as the last verse in Psalms 16:11 “at His right hand are pleasures forevermore.” No wonder their bed is green, abiding in Him they bear much fruit… How did I know this was the woman speaking – Ahh for that you will have to listen…
Song of Songs 1:17 The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.
Solomon no doubt had Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: in mind as so much comes together here, Wisdom and Understanding as the wood that he picked both for the Temple and this house are Cedar and Fir, which in Hebrew is Alef-Resh and Bet-Resh – In it’s own way the beginning of Wisdom and the beginning of Understanding.
Also in my view connected to Deuteronomy 4:6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
God’s People who love each other build an amazing house for the world to see… Simple enough – “Love One Another” The whole word is looking for that wisdom and that understanding.
It’s been told me many times, “The best thing you can do for you kids is to love their mother”. The real house is not the shingles over my head, it’s the blood…
Song of Songs 2:1 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.
The valley and in this case Valleys is where we tend to long for Jesus the most. – The deeper the Valley the greater the longing. In this episode I spend some time in the Hebrew of these words describing how I felt that.
Song of Songs 2:2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.
The Lily of the Valleys has been down in the good soil of the valley of humiliation and sank its roots deep into the living water, even you reading this who love His Word.
Thorns on the other hand are all about conserving the little water they think they have access to. The four purposes of thorns.
- Stop air flow from robbing moisture – hoarding
- Collect dew to drip on the roots – self sufficient
- Provide shade – keeping themselves cool – (I’ve tried not effective)
- Protection from others – isolation
Those who are thriving on living water know there is an endless supply. Rejoice is the response and so the root of the Hebrew word Lily.
Song of Songs 2:3 As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
From the valley of the Lily, to the Apple orchards of the mountains, the bride sees her groom as high and lifted up. The symbolism of a Tree – righteous. The symbolism of the shade of Jesus blood. The symbolism of the apple itself as great fruit with the seeds of this tree
How this shade has blessed me.
Song of Songs 2:4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
I don’t know a more amazing feeling then to know you are IN! That, He is Jesus, and He is Taking you In, then putting a BIG SIGN over you That SAYS This IS THE ONE!!!!
This episode we just revel in That.
Song of Songs 2: 5 Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.
We the Bride overcome with love, would seem this is too good to be true need comfort food and very interestingly the first food she reaches for is in Hebrew has the root of Lily – rejoice, as in His presence is fullness of Joy. The apples that in the Hebrew word picture letters looks like the True Face of a continual marriage. Brings into focus the apple of our eye, Jesus.
Nothing like apples and raisins for a love sick appetite it would appear.. Even better is the Word of God itself – Its full of Flagons and Apples – just sayin.
Song of Songs 2:6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.
Short and so very very very sweet, even mind blowing. God is below you, above you, on your right and on your left.In other words, Jesus has you covered.
Even in the worst of your life. So I share a little of that horror of my sin and how Jesus still has His left hand under my head and His right hand doth embrace me.
Song of Songs 2: 7 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake love, till she delights.
I do love the many ways scholars have interpreted this – Rashi, basically believed you will be preyed upon like hinds and roes if you get between Israel and God. Matthew Henry, “let those who have comfort be afraid of sinning it away.
I believe like any deer, they only love when they can have young, (fruit). Jesus loves at all times so the problem is us. Essentially, that word at the end, delight or please actually is completely smitten, wholehearted love. The Hebrew prefix before is a Tav which is clearly, she, us the church. So like a deer that has to be in season, (ready to be fruitful) this if faked brings a curse. In other words God turns his back on you and like lukewarm water spits you out….
My Prayer Psalm 118:80 Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. The statutes and the delight at the end of the verse both start with a Chet. Our union with Christ.

Song of Solomon 2:8 The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.
The 8th or miracle verse of the chapter is the very thing we all hope for – HE IS COMING.
His voice is just as much a miracle as it is significant in our search for statutes as it begins with the letter KOPH. I spend sometime in this episode with that significance. My story of His voice in that section of the 119th Psalm verse 145

The word fox here begins with the same letter as lie in Hebrew a Shin as the verse in the Shin section of the 119 Psalm -“I hate an Abhor lying but thy Law do I love. As the second verse in the gimmel section of the 119 Psalm we are looking for Jesus – “Open our eyes to behold wondrous things out of Thy law” – We can find God in His Garden – His Word
Song of Solomon 3:3 The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?
As Genesis 1 showed us “It was evening then it was morning” Our heroin is going about the city when she is found by the Watchmen and not unlike Mary at the tomb asks – “Have you seen my Lord”. When did the watchman find you? I share my story and John Bunyan’s quote – “That which is last, Lasts!”
Song of Songs 3: 4 It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.
After we pass those who point us to Jesus we still have to do the real connecting and holding on to Jesus – One On One – Then where do we go all the way back to our very birth as our identity our house literally changes address. Much to share and ponder in this verse.

The many ways we know that this Pillars of Smoke is The Bride Of Christ.
Song of Songs 3:7 Behold his bed, which is Solomon’s; threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel.

Song of Solomon 3:8 They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.
The miracle verse or Chet verse of Chapter three is such a miracle – Those who are the Lord’s Body Guard are: “Teachers and Disciples of The Word, guarding the Flank of The Church’s Bed our hearts”. Find out how that’s spelled out in this verse.
Song of Song 3:9 King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon.
This was a Sedan Chair a curtained traveling Bed and He made it himself of Wood – Oh the imagery of these words explained here..
Song of Songs 3:10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem
Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Song of Songs 3:10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem.
Considering the Arc of The Covenant being covered in Gold and our Hearts being the Holy of Holies of our temples, here we have the concept of a heart of Gold. The word GOLD in Hebrew unlocks so much more described in this episode.
Song of Song 3:10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, from the daughters of Jerusalem.

Song of Songs 3:11 Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.
Who are the daughters of Zion?
Who is Jesus Mother?
What was the day of His espousals?
How did is mother crown him and what did that crown look like.

Song of Solomon 4:2 Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.

Song of Songs 4:3 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.

Song of Songs 4:4 Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
Rashi shares some powerful insight into the makeup of the neck of the Bride of Christ… The word in KJV translated shield is actually a quiver – Note the Picture attached and see if you see the quiver.
Song of Songs 4:5 Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies.
Awkward question but clearly God is asking us to consider this as He here describes His Bride and as Matthew Henry pointed out these seven attributes line up with the seven anointings in Isaiah 11with the seventh being a delight in the fear of the Lord. All this is discussed as well as Rashi the great Jewish commentator considered these two twins to be the two tablets as they mirror each other and as promised here is his commentary ….
“the twins of a gazelle: exactly corresponding in one measure; the five commandments on this one (side of the Tablets, correspond to) the five commandments on the other (side of the Tablets), each commandment corresponding to a commandment. “I [am the Lord your God]” corresponds to “You shall not murder,” for the murderer diminishes the semblance of the Holy One, blessed be He. “You shall not have [any other gods before Me]” corresponds to “You shall not commit adultery,” for one who commits idolatry is like an adulterous woman, who takes strangers instead of her husband. “You shall not hear [the name of the Lord your God in vain]” corresponds to “You shall not steal,” for one who steals will ultimately swear falsely. “Remember [the Sabbath day to keep it holy]” corresponds to “You shall not bear [false witness against your neighbor],” for one who profanes the Sabbath testifies falsely against his Creator, saying that He did not rest on the Sabbath of Creation. “Honor [your father and mother]” corresponds to “You shall not covet,” for one who covets is destined to beget a son who slights him and honors one who is not his father.”
Song of Songs 4:6 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
This the 6th and vuv verse is the “continuation” (some ofthe meaning of the letter vuv) of so much of the whole book, you find in it – The Sun that makes black and shadows found all over chapters one and two and the Mountains all over the book as well and the spices, myrrh – bitter and frankincense, sweet – Listen to hear some thoughts to connect all that.
Song of Songs 4:6 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
Looking at this verse a second time from a point of intimacy, the Hebrew paints a spectacular picture that our hearts can delight in.
Song of Songs 4:7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

How amazing for Jesus to call us His Spouse and then to come away and wait til you hear of these five destinations….
Song of Songs 4:9 Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.

The word used for love here is Dalet Vuv Dalet and why would that be better than wine?
