Yes the original Christmas Present Came Wrapped with a whole lot of meaning these swaddling clothes.

While considering this picture above last year, having read Stu Epperson’s Christmas Book, First words of Jesus this year, God took me deeper. Why the swaddling? Why would the Shepherds think this was unique?

I believe we can find some answers in the only other place in the Bible that talks about Swaddling clothes and in this case we hear how God feels about them. Ezekiel 16:4 As for your nativity, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water to cleanse you; you were not rubbed with salt nor wrapped in swaddling cloths.

Babies that were abandoned not wanted, not FAVORED or the APPLE of Their Father’s Eye, in other words disgraced babies were not swaddled. Now lets look at how cool swaddling really is, especially Mary’s.

Traditional thoughts on swaddling as an oriental Jewish girl back in the day, young Mary likely used cloths she spun herself for her wedding booth. Swaddling as a result showed that the baby was a result of a loving marriage union of a very wanted son, in this case more wanted than any the world would ever know. However she did it, no doubt the reason the shepherds would have marveled was the contrast. It’s easy to see why an unwanted baby would be in a feeding trough, but not a precious wanted son who had been carefully and no doubt beautifully swaddled.

Great gifts deserve a great wrapping don’t you think. Yes, Jesus would be wrapped again very carefully in the most remarkable event in human history, the unwrapping of that gift on Easter Morning, He’s ALIVE, He has RISEN is the original Christmas Gift that keeps on giving.

This year marks 2020 years according to the Jewish calendar, 3758 the original Christmas Year till this year 5778…SO, lets throw a Birthday Party Jesus  will love… The more  the merrier,  Jesus has some great wrapping for all those who attend… Yes we need to get our swaddle on, we are beloved, we are chosen and, wanted the result of a loving Marriage to come, don’t miss it.

So as we wrap those presents this year, consider what that wrapping really will feel like in the Kingdom and give good gifts to show those we love like our heavenly Father who loves to give good well wrapped gifts.
