If you sang it many times you love it … “Leaning On The Everlasting Arms”. What I learned this week may be part of why I love it so much… Have you ever wondered why we say, “Adam, fell” or someone fell into sin. What I learned this week makes it clear that is true in oh so many ways.
The word in Hebrew in the picture above is not only a word but the name of the letter itself… Samech “ס”. On the show today I will spend some time on why its shaped as a circle, for now here comes the game changer not only does it mean to uphold as in Psalms 119:116 but it also means Authority… As in the commissioning of Joshua, in Numbers 27:18.
18 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;
So when Jesus says in Matthew 28:
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All “authority” has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
My new understanding is that when Adam chose anything but God as his authority or Samek he fell, there was nothing there to catch him, all earth detached from the True Samek.. Death is at the bottom. BUT Jesus, having died for all that, now became the Rock of Ages, the true Authority and Samek leaning on Him brings life, not just eternally but life abundant here and now. Snuggle up close in prayer and His word or in fellowship with other believers…
