I too have a Mom and a Grand Mom and a great-great grand and even a great-great-great-great-great-great-grand Mom, each suffered a lot; not just at the birth of the life that lead to mine, but if they knew the love of Christ, they suffered for their child at each hurt, or broken heart, or even the long, long nights wondering if their child was at war, even at war with drugs or alcohol or some wayward romance; count on it they suffered. Their story is their witness of how God was faithful, the word, witness in Greek = Martyr. Their witness is how they overcame in more ways than I have ever dreamed.

37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, [k]were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented— 38 of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.

39 And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, 40 God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.  1. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the [a]author and [b]finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrew 11: 37-39 on into Chapter 12:1-2

Did you see that, their lives are not made perfect apart from us and as Chapter 12 verse one shares; allows us the opportunity through our witness to our future generations both physically and spiritually to join that cloud.

Amazingly, what qualifies each for membership? A witness to God’s faithfulness which requires suffering on our part…. Yes, your mom has and is suffering and will suffer, just as Jesus did that we all could encourage our children and each other with our faith……
