According to Honda 60% of the energy requirements in their assembly plants is spent on the paint job. I love the comparison they make.  “Paint is kinda like people just as people like to be comfortable so paint behaves in a similar manner. Paint always wants to be in a relatively narrow band of temperature and humidity other wise it acts up.” Those statements have some deep deep very complex stuff wrapped up inside them. I don’t begin to understand it all but I do enjoy the wonder of it, but first the practical.

If the auto manufacturers spend that kind of resources to get a good finish on a car how important is it that the body shop you choose is up to date on the technology required for today’s finishes.  As robots highly maintained temperature and humidity requirements, electrostatic baths etc… are used by the original manufacturers so the process of matching and maintaining a finish have become more and more complex and expensive.

Here are three simple tips to help you wade through the complexity

  • Number one as always pray ask God for his guidance He know stuff like this He made it.
  • Number two ask a Christian brother or sister for guidance if they have expertise
  • Number three the insurance companies deal with body shops everyday and a good adjuster can tell you who can repair your make and model, it’s what they do.

Now on to the cool stuff the wonder of it all.  How sensitive to temperature and humidity are you?  If you are like me and your marriage is a divine conspiracy your spouse and you have a few degree temperature preferences that makes for some laughable situations. In our case my wife tells the world how her husband puts on layers of pajamas even tucking his pajamas into his socks to stay warm while she wants the air blowing full blast even in the dead of winter.

As funny as I find that when you take out the exaggeration there is probably less than a five degree difference  but oh that five degrees can make me so uncomfortable. Now, wonder with me on how God so created the earth and used all these resources to keep us all comfortable within such a narrow band of temperature and humidity. Like paint if I’m not where I need to be I begin to act up. The balance of it all is more than I can comprehend.

Genesis 3:14-19 The Message

God spoke: “Lights! Come out!
        Shine in Heaven’s sky!
    Separate Day from Night.
Mark seasons and days and years,
Lights in Heaven’s sky to give light to Earth.”
        And there it was.

God made two big lights, the larger
        to take charge of Day,
    The smaller to be in charge of Night;
        and he made the stars.
God placed them in the heavenly sky
        to light up Earth
    And oversee Day and Night,
        to separate light and dark.
God saw that it was good.
It was evening, it was morning—
    Day Four.

Now Compare that passage to Revelation 12

1-2 A great Sign appeared in Heaven: a Woman dressed all in sunlight, standing on the moon, and crowned with Twelve Stars. She was giving birth to a Child and cried out in the pain of childbirth.

3-4 And then another Sign alongside the first: a huge and fiery Dragon! It had seven heads and ten horns, a crown on each of the seven heads. With one flick of its tail it knocked a third of the Stars from the sky and dumped them on earth. The Dragon crouched before the Woman in childbirth, poised to eat up the Child when it came.

5-6 The Woman gave birth to a Son who will shepherd all nations with an iron rod. Her Son was seized and placed safely before God on his Throne. The Woman herself escaped to the desert to a place of safety prepared by God, all comforts provided her for 1,260 days.

I am so amazed that all the items the woman is portrayed with here our Father,  God created on the fourth day. God’s use of light, the light of the world. Just as a few degrees of temperature makes all the difference to my physical comfort that spiritual illumination diminished by a few degrees and I can feel the darkness covering my soul. This passage is the Christmas story but it is also the story that started in Genesis not just chapter one but wonder with me at chapter 3.

Genesis 3 The Message (MSG)

God said to the Woman, “What is this that you’ve done?”

13 “The serpent seduced me,” she said, “and I ate.”

14-15 God told the serpent:

“Because you’ve done this, you’re cursed,
cursed beyond all cattle and wild animals,
Cursed to slink on your belly
and eat dirt all your life.
I’m declaring war between you and the Woman,
    between your offspring and hers.
He’ll wound your head,
    you’ll wound his heel.”

16 He told the Woman:

“I’ll multiply your pains in childbirth;
you’ll give birth to your babies in pain.

Do you see what I see, the war started here between darkness and light, between Satan’s offspring, (who is that?) and hers, (who is that?). We know who wins, we know, “The Sun will come out tomorrow”…In that I take comfort..
