Live Today from The Butcher Block in Downtown Winston Salem – How do you meat out loving God?
In the seventh verse of the PEH section, verse 135 of the 119 Psalm, is the seventh and final time in the Psalm the Psalmist asks to be taught the statutes or Huquam. Not unlike going around the walls of Jericho seven times,as a bride does in a Jewish Wedding. So this begs the question – WHAT IS A STATUTE?. The Hebrew for that word is just two letters, two pictures; first – Chet , meaning wedding or union and the second Qaf, meaning holy or close… My Translation would be: God teach me how to love you the way you want to be loved…
Psalms 119:135 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.
So few words but the treasure of so much of the Bible comes to life right here, The Aaronic Blessing, the wholehearted man after God’s own heart asking for the seventh time in the seventh verse – God teach me how to love you – “if you love me you will keep my commandments”.
How do we ask those we love to teach us their heart cries? Today’s Show – by the way you can ask your car too.
