Our family in the Bible was dysfunctional to say the least, I say our family because as the Psalmist said “I have taken thy testimonies as my heritage forever for they are the rejoicing of my heart” To see the crazy choices they made to deceive each other, especially Jacob, Leah and Rachel reminds me of my family -THANK GOD. Because God so richly rewarded them, not for their bad choices but for their faith.

Here in Jeremiah 31 is a remarkable look into heaven almost like Job we get a peek behind the curtain as God speaks with saints long, long dead and reassures them that just like Joseph’s death, Things are not as they appear.

16 Thus says the Lord:

“A voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation and bitter weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted for her children,
Because they are no more.”

“Refrain your voice from weeping,
And your eyes from tears;
For your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord,
And they shall come back from the land of the enemy.
17 There is hope in your future, says the Lord,
That your children shall come back to their own border.

Jeremiah 31:16-17

Note the exact wording and a marvelous picture comes to life, Who refused to be comforted because Rachel’s son Joseph appeared dead and who also said that Joseph, Simeon were not? Jacob her husband.

What a promise for us and our kids and also to know that our Mom’s are our mom’s forever and they are up there in that great cloud of witnesses…WOW!!!
