“His belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.”
Song of Solomon 5:14B
Ivory in Hebrew could also be translated tooth and is actually the very name of the letter Shin a shin and a nun. The picture of a tooth gives us the function of the letter – to refine and so the letter shin looks both like a fire and a tooth. The marvel of it is the light, the God spark, the letter has three of them and such is refining in my current view is to see the God spark is to refine something. Find God in the story and you have in fact refined it. Here is a simple story from this week most anyone who knows me would see God here and no doubt He is refining me.
Earlier this week I was on a long hour walk praying – “show me something cool.” I asked God and He told me I need to listen, so I started listening intensely. Birds, crickets, katydids. Then near the end of my walk I started to get near to the little stream and I could hear a small waterfall and remembered all the little waterfalls I fished in New Mexico, I was delighted at the memories. As I approached the little bridge, I saw my little waterfall then something more than amazing, it was a an amazingly beautiful pink flower lying on a rock in the middle of the river all by itself with no idea where it may have come from. I have a PictureThis app on my phone and I scanned it to know what kind of flower is that. It quickly gave me the answer and to my utter elation – it is a Rose of Sharon. With my love for the Song of Solomon no doubt He did show me some thing more than cool today…
