Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the galleries.
Song of Solomon 7:5
Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
Genesis 49:22
The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my Fathers unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
Gen 49:26
Oh that we would all meditate on these verses and live out the closing line to Faith of our Fathers –
Faith Of Our Fathers, Holy Faith – Will we be true to thee til death.
Faith Of Our Fathers Hymn
Understanding the connection in all this – Carmel, used by Solomon in The Bridegrooms description of the brides head or crown is a mountain in Manasseh – Joseph’s Son. The word means fruitful vineyard as was Joseph’s blessing, first line. Purple is extremely costly in that it took 10,000 Mulex shell fish to make one ounce as was Joseph’s faith tested by his brother’s, Potiphar’s wife , the cup holder, prison etc…
The most amazing part of all is that the King is held captive by that in the braids or galleries. Clearly making reference to the Nazarite, of which Joseph was the first to be associated with that term as in Jacob’s blessing in the 26th verse the word translated – separated -is the word nazarite, which by the way is also an undressed vine, that would require the faith of the people in the sabath year to trust in a harvest without dressing their vines.
Meditate on all and I think it connects many biblical faith stories that will help us all keep that kind of faith til death.
