As a car salesman the first thing that attracted me to Christianity was the hope of the Great Commission… Old joke but still makes me laugh and it is more than true. In Matthew 28: 19-20 (know as the great commission or the great CO-MISSION) ..
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28 19-20
Focus in for a moment on TEACH. God instructs many, many times for us to teach… (YARAH) in Hebrew. Well simply put, you can’t teach what you haven’t learned. The Joy of leaning is made complete in teaching the riches involved have very much to do with the Hebrew letters Gimel and Dalet, the 3rd and 4th letters of the Hebrew Alef-Bet… The idea is that the gimel is a rich man, (gimmel) chasing the poor man (dalet) to give him the riches stolen from him. That is the principal of teaching.
We have the secret of the greatest news of all time, in fact the greatest treasure that has been stolen. We are to run to the poor in spirit and try to teach them the gospel, if they receive it they will want to teach it … As Bruce Springsteen puts it, “Baby we were born to run”.
Once we give away our secrets, then God blesses us with ten times more, the real secret of the tithe is that its way better to receive than to give when it comes to God’s word because when we learn it from someone, we receive it, they will be blessed by God times 10 and we get to go teach and get the same blessing when someone receives our teaching.
The word, (Bible/Jesus) is seed and as you sow it, you are given more and more seed… An amazing example is King David, his name Dalet Vuv Dalet can you hear the two da-sounds because he was poor, poor in spirit. Because he hungered so much for God’s word, (how many times did he ask to be taught in the Psalms), he received then he taught and on it went until he was blessed beyond my imagination. His was in fact the Kingdom of heaven as the beatitude promised to the POOR.
So it is a give and take, we have be receive so other can give and we have to give so others can receive. THAT”S A GREAT COMMISSION
