Menorah Lit (1)

As I have spoken of before if the a Christian’s Body is the temple then where is the Holy of Hollies, being our hearts. As I was asked give the message at the 11 o’clock service next week at Peace Church in Durham. I asked Pastor James Banks, if they were in a series and is there a passage he would prefer I speak on. He said they were in Revelation and would I be willing to speak on Revelation 15-22… To say that set me back in my chair was an understatement. I then thought man oh man is God is going to have to give me something for this, An man oh man did he.

I decided I had better read those chapters with fresh eyes and I just started reading it all and when I got to Revelation 21:22 It hit me like a ton of bricks, I had a gigantic misunderstanding of eternity. “I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.” My heart was bewildered as I had this picture of heaven with the Lamp Stand and the Thrones pictured in Revelation 4 and I was kind of disappointed until I studied the Menorah some more.

This amazing Article written by Messianic Jews, ‘A Closer Look at The Menorah ‘ speaks volumes about all sorts of connections to what going was drawing us a diagram of. Although familiar with many, the one that struck me was from Numbers 8:2 where the wicks of the lights were to illuminate the center light. It then goes on to tell you of the four miracles that the Ancient Jews believed were telling them of the destruction of the temple . One of which was that the center light always stayed lit through the night prior to Jesus death but the same day that the veil was torn that very night the center light quick staying lit all night until 70 ad at the destruction of the temple.

When we consider that the Holy Spirit is to illuminate Christ in our hearts how cool is it that those light were aimed at the center…So much more to share but you’ll have to come listen in Durham next Sunday February 21, 2016 Peace Church
