Yesterday morning God showed me something I don’t think I will ever fully grasp or get to the depth of it, but it simply blew me away. The exact location of the lost Ark of the covenant. I was reading Waking the Dead by John Eldredge in his chapter on the heart and he said, “don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you 1 Cor 3:16. Okay – each of us is now then the temple of God. So where, then is the Holy of Hollies? Your heart.”
It was like a lightning bolt went through me, I just recalled teaching Sunday School for the last two weeks on Stevens defense in the book of Acts and how he was clearly trying to get across to his accusers that his statements about the current temple were an effort to display that the temple was a picture of a better temple that was to come. I really thought he was talking about heaven but I realized he was talking about our hearts, Really, Really…my heart the Holy of Hollies… Then, then the law and the manna and the rod that budded are inside my heart.
Wow and double wow God said that he would write His law on our hearts Jeremiah 31:33 and we hide his word in our hearts, Psalms 119:11 which is spiritual food.
And the rod that budded oh the rod that budded, that might be the best past. Matthew Henry taught that the rod is a picture of Christ. Aaron’s rod was of the almond tree the first to blossom and bear fruit in the spring. Jesus is the first fruits and then, (I so love this), Matthew Henry also said it was the same rod that Moses Used to strike the rock where the streams of living water came from John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
Yes, yes, we have that rod we can strike rocks and water will flow from them… To me this is clearly a heart to heart issue. God has given us the dignity of having Moses Rod, (Christ) to strike out from our hearts to others hearts of stone so that they may to be “Streams of Living Water”…
I could go on and on and on about the significance of this revelation, however that would be robbing you the joy of discovery. For you to see where all the dots of scripture connect right here. As for me all I can do is worship and sit back and marvel and with eager excitement wait for the next morning that I might gather some manna in my heart, the taste is sweeter than honey. To feel His law and sense the mighty rod, like the Varple sword in Alice in wonderland, “it knows what it wants”.
